I chose my topic because my dad works with veterans and knows a lot about world
war II. He would always tell me about world war II and POWs and I thought it
was interesting. I had always wondered about what they had to go through and
what their responsibilities were. My dad told me that soldiers and POWs had
certain rights and certain responsibilities. And I wanted to learn more about
POWs rights and responsibilities.
The way that I conducted my research was by searching on Google " The Geneva
Convention", "How Were POWs
treated?", "What is a POW?", "POWs rights and responsibilities", and "The POW
code of conduct". I had also asked a few veterans about their experience during
world war II. My dad is also a great source for this topic because he works with
veterans. Another way I found research was skimming over books about world war
II and POWs. Some of those books were "The War" , " The Nuremberg Trial", etc. I
had also went to the Holocaust Museum and talked to a Holocaust survivor. Her
name was Fanny Aizenburg.
I chose website because it is modern technology. I usually prefer technology over
anything else if I have the option to choose. I also chose website because it
is very easy to make and because my dad has experience with computers and could
help me. I made my website by using weebly.com. Then I linked other website
articles that helped me with my project. I also added a picture of Fanny
Aizenburg and of Fanny Aizenburg, me and my dad. Making a website is very easy.

My topic relates to the NHD theme because soldiers, POWs and civilians had strong
rights and big responsibilities. This topic also relates to the NHD theme
because they were protected by the Geneva Convention. But even though they had
rights, their captures either didn't give them those rights or didn't recognize
the Geneva Convention.
